A different Georiga on my mind part 1 (part 2 found here: http://drdot.blog-city.com/greetings_from_georgia_former_soviet_union.htm )

Berlin is treating me WELL these days. Saturday night I massaged Ronald Steven Lauder the youngest son of Estee Lauder. For some reason I thought the family was French and was surprise to find out he is from Brooklyn. Ha! Super funny guy who LIVES for massage. He is currently building a massage room in his house. He told me my massage was the best one he has ever had, so maybe I will be massaging he and his wife in that massage room when I get my arse back to NYC.

TONIGHT was even better. I massaged the best looking President on earth, Mikheil Saakashvili . < click to read more about him)..He is the President of Georgia and super fun to talk to. He originally wanted only a 30 minute massage but 90 minutes later, he told me my massage is "the best massage I have had in my life so far". Mikheil had body gaurds outside the massage room the whole time, who were all over 6 feet tall and like 4 feet wide. One spoke English really well and told me his favorite group is Metallica. Ha. He said "I am a rocker!" so we got along fine, whilst waiting for the President to finish his work out. I was excited to finally get to massage a President. I have massaged the Prince of Saudi Arabia before and a few Mayors, but this was the first President for me.

During the massage 'Mr. President' was very witty. I was massaging his massive neck and told him "wow! Your neck is so tense!" and he answered "no kidding, I have RUSSIA sitting on it!". We both laughed so hard. I was feeling comfortable and asked him if he had ever been to Georgia, as in, Atlanta Georgia and he laughed and said of course. Then I took it even further and asked him if he's ever heard "Georgia on my mind" from Ray Charles. I was laughing while I asked him and said "these are just stupid questions reporters aren't allowed to ask you" ha!!  I told him my family lives in Georgia (they are from New England but migrated South to Atlanta, k?). He said I should come to visit the COUNTRY Georgia, and I said I was too scare, I mean, I can't even point it out on the fucking map. He assured me if I came, his security would look after me. SOOOO I may be going to Georgia this summer. He swears they LOVE Americans there. I told him that is probably the ONLY place on earth that "loves Americans".He said he studied at Columbia University in NYC and lived in Washington DC, which he said are his favorite two places in the US.

Even his body gaurd's faces lit up when I told them I am American. The Pres and I were cracking jokes about how serious Germans are. LMFAO!! He said "We Georgians are the complete opposites of Germans" ha!! Now I can't wait to go and discover this mysterious country that has only 5 million people in it, yet has their own Playboy magazine (you know, Playboy UK, Playboy Germany, Playboy GEORGIA!". He told me that. We talked about that because I had just told him I write for Penthouse Forum and gave him a copy (the copy which has yours truly on the cover). He asked me a lot of questions to, about where I learned massage, about my family and life. I try to avoid talking during a massage but if someone is chatty, we chat. Sometimes we were silent, as when I massage, it's hard work and it's hard to talk and massage deep tissue at the same time, I start breathing hard and I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. heh heh.

After the massage, he was in a super good mood and even posed with me. I didn't even BOTHER bringing my good Sony camera as I thought, nah, he would never pose with a rock and roll massage therapist. BUT he did, so my blackberry camera had to do:

NOTE: PART 2 OF THIS CAN BE FOUND HERE: http://drdot.blog-city.com/greetings_from_georgia_former_soviet_union.htm

I told him I massage a lot of rock stars and he asked which ones, I told him a few names, Kiss, Sting, The Stones… and he said "I feel honored now!" ha ha! He is so fucking cool! Genuinely friendly, not diplomatically friendly, know what I mean? He had his body gaurds send down to bottles of Georgian wine "Mukuzani, Special Reserve, aged in French barrels for 20 months" and 100 euro tip. What a man!!!!!!!!  He now has a new fan.

Oh, by the way, when I arrived to massage the President at his hotel, there was a BIG FUCKING FUSS;  LOADS of security outside and no one was allowed in a that moment because Ms. Rice (Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor) was about to enter the same hotel. I told the cops, "the freaking president of Georgia is waiting for a massage, let me in!" ha ha. They didn't believe me at first, but after a walkie talkie check, I was escorted in. This hotel is happenin' at the moment. Not allowed to say which hotel right now…. I am behaving.

OMG

Berlin is happier than ever right now. The Turks are happy as they won the other night and now Germany won against Portugal, so we have happy Turks along side Happy Germans, enjoying the warm weather. Life is grand here apart from the fucking construction workers who have been doing who knows WHAT since January in my court yard, who start making EXTREME noise at 7:30 am sharp, which leaves me about, uh, one hour of silences after my head hits the pillow at 6am as always. Lucky for them there are laws protecting them, ha ha.

So today (June 19th) is Jasmine's 19th birthday. OMG! Just thought I would throw that out there, she won't want me going on and on about it. sigh. I  am so swamped lately that even thinking about blogging makes me nervous. I have so much to write and so many pictures to crop and upload and explain. Perhaps I will find time this weekend to put a dent in the France and Italy blog. Jesus I have to much catching up to do AND my New Years resolution was to actually re-write my WHOLE book again so I can see if anyone wants to publish it. Thing is, I get asked several times a day per email "where can I find your book" or "where can I buy your book?" so I know there is a demand for it and I know it will help me sleep getting all of this info out of my fucking head (like taking a huge mental dump) so I can free up memory space on my mind before I get Alzheimers and forget it all. Feck!

So much to do everyday, so many emails and columns to write that I never get around to the fun writing.. I think it's better to have too much to do than not enough. I simply can NOT understand people who get bored. WHAT? Bored? I just don't comprehend. I have no time to be bored. There is always something to do, in fact, more than one thing to do; I'm not even bored when I sleep, I have naughty dreams keeping me entertained.

Oh, I saw the Sex and the City movie tonight and LOVED IT!!! I went with  my girlfriend Martina (who looks, dresses and acts just like Charlotte AND is 7 months pregnant, so at the part in the film where Charlotte was super pregnant, it was so funny looking at Martina!). Anyways the film is fabulous and we want MORE! On another note, I watched an episode of WEEDS, which everyone told me about; told me how much I would love it. HATED IT. What a waste of time that was. STUPID. Don't waste your time. Sometimes before I sleep, Pooh and I watch something on my MAC lap top (which I LOVE now by the way) and it's usually Meerkat Manor or Gene Simmon's Family Jewels which I order from iTunes. LOVE THEM.

I am just rambling on now, I have to get to bed before the trash men and construction workers start making their war sounds. Will write again soon,

Rock am Ring, here I come

Crazy busy the last couple days, landed in Berlin, didn't even unpack as I fly today to Rock am Ring, somewhere in Germany (Nurnberg?) There are many bands there and I will be busy massaging and it won't feel like work, as I will be in rock and roll heaven. Saw Jasmine a few times, which is paradise for me. Berlin is hot and sunny, perfect weather.

I was going to be body painted by the same company that painted me before, but they totally flaked out, as in, didn't call, answer emails, etc. They quoted me 450 euro for the painting, which I agreed to, then later said "well, it will be another 85 euros in tax". That is around $150 at this point so I moaned about that and I suppose that is what made them flake, that and the one email that explained it would be TOO MUCH work, etc. ugh! This is how the front would have looked:

I would have perhaps been allowed to introduce the band (KISS) on stage in my body paint this coming Monday when they play Berlin. Fecking lazy ass body painters.. KISS my ass. I promised Doc and co. that I would just come dressed in my nurse uniform to make up for the lack of body paint.

AGAIN, Berliners NOT into making cash. They are not as ambitious here as they are in NYC, that is for sure. Nice for them I suppose, they chill, relax, never break a sweat, don't worry about tomorrow, but dealing with such people irritates me as I am so on the ball and ready to work; LOVE to work and I find it hard to understand people who avoid work.

Some of my friends give me shit that I don't have time to answer their emails, which are simply silly jokes, but then again, those friends are unemployed, live with their mom and haven't a care in the world. Must be nice!? Eh, I don't think so, work makes me happy- guess I am a freak, but then again, if you watch Gene Simmon's Family Jewels show, you will see he is also LOVES work, so  I know I'm not the only one. Sigh.

Anyways, got a flight to catch, not bringing lap top (for once) either. Rock am Ring, here I come

😉

On my way back to Europe

I had a feckin' blast here in NYC.. now I am heading back to see Jasmine. Seems we will both be moving to NYC for a long time at the end of the summer.. never sure though. It is FINALLY hot here in NYC, after freezing tits off all of May. I am so fucking psyched to attend Rock am Ring, one of Germany's bigger summer rock festivals. Oooh la la, it shall be fun. Going to see (and hopefully massage) Kiss again in Berlin, which should ROCK. Hanging head in shame that I have not posted France or Italy blogs yet. OMG! Will do asap.

1 May in Berlin, Germany 2008

Normally on the 1 of May Berlin is chaotic and a tad dangerous… I brought my camera out just in case I came across such action on my daily strut through the park across from my flat in Berlin. This is the video material I gathered on the 1st of May.. (above)

"May 1 is a bubbling sea of discontent. The urban masses are a flurry with protest, parade, and party. Though in recent years a series of more benign events have taken some of the anger out of the day's mood, May Day is traditionally when a motley collection of left and radical groups — communist, socialist, revolutionary, and anarchist — get out for good old Berlin-style demonstrations. In addition to the primary evil, crappy work conditions and compensation, participants protest any and all things negative: racism, sexism, environmental damage, and globalization/capitalism. Other causes are uniquely Berlin: for instance there was last year's march for the release of a jailed Red Army Faction terrorist, a concern that harkens back to West Berlin as the breeding ground for terrorist groups in the late-1960s and 1970s).

Amid the ruckus, Berlin emerges yet again as a metropolis of contradictions. For starters, May 1 in Germany has seen street fights between right- and left-wing radical groups, as when the far right NPD and gangs of neo-Nazi ruffians decide that they can use the day for their own cause, which then leads to battle with Nazi opposition groups. These violent conflicts obviously contradict the messages of coexistence and peace that are the focus of several of the other groups hitting the streets on May Day.

These clashes aside, most of the violence comes from people with little political motivation — a wave of wayward punks and anarchists out for a little destructive fun. More like football hooligans than pensive protesters, these angry champions of disorder charge through the streets come nightfall looking for a chance to throw bottles and/or rocks at cops, vandalize, and, most notoriously, set cars, garbage cans, and such on fire. Their rage against authority just causes grief for a bunch of unempowered average Berliners — the residents of Kreuzberg, street cleaners, and other unlucky souls forced to deal with the aftermath.

I'm eager to see how things play out this year, after the peaceful and goal-oriented activists managed to win the day (but not the night) for constructive purposes last year. But as this year marks the 80th anniversary of Blutmai (Blood May), during which the police injured and killed protesters, it'll be interesting to see who'll claim that as their precedent (and how).

There are eleven demonstrations planned so far this year. On April 1 alone, exactly one month before the Tag der Arbeit, three revolutionary groups registered their May Day protests with the city's police. So, as in years prior, the Revolutionäre 1 Mai Demonstration will begin at 1 p.m. in Kreuzberg (pictured above). Then two other rallies will also hit the streets: Mayday beginning at 2 p.m. and Gegen Kapital und Krieg (literally 'Against Capital and War') at 5 p.m. Once you tire of watching these spectacles, you can wander MyFest, the neighborhood's fantastic street festival. Just be sure to batten down the hatches come nightfall."  From Gridskipper.com

Florence, Italy

Just landed back in Berlin (freezing, raining, dark, but home sweet home (second home sweet home 🙂

I have tons of pictures and stories to share but need some sleep, which may prove difficult since Pooh bear is in my  SUITCASE in Munich Cry

Due to a flight delay, my bag is still in Munich but I know the trust worth Germans at Lufthansa will deliver it tomorrow, I just can't sleep without Pooh. Lame, I know. sigh.  Jasmine and I had an exciting time in Rome and Florence and I am looking forward to telling you about it…

Nice quote

I received hundreds of comments and emails about the posting I made about how much shit an American gets here in Berlin and the best quote so far was this one

"responding negatively to the negative remarks causes it to persist. the people who make those remarks to you aren't saying anything about you, they are telling you about them.."

There were HUNDREDS of people writing about how if the Americans didn't make the air bridge, the Berliners would have starved to death, etc… and there were a few Berliners writing me arguing that Berliners aren't that bad. But I have to laugh when I read the quote Goethe made in the 1700's about how miserable and mean the Berliners were, even back then, so it's obviously not just my opinion (or was Goethe just a liar?)

"Es lebt in Berlin ein so verwegener Menschenschlag beisammen,
dass man mit der Delikatesse nicht weit reicht, sondern dass man
Haare auf den Zähnen haben und mitunter etwas grob sein muss, um
sich über Wasser zu halten."

Goethe, May 1778

Zappa Plays Zappa tour dates (and me venting about Anti-American Berlin)

I am hanging my head in shame here as I have not blogged properly in so long. So much going on, I don't even know where to start. I am in Berlin, it's fucking freezing and everyone here still hates Americans and lets me know about it on a daily basis. I am getting pretty fucking tired of defending myself every time I leave the house. It's bad enough the Germans LOATHE American's entirely, but to hear it from the English here as well is sometimes too much to handle.

I was in an Irish pub the other night, showing a friend around and there were some English guys (from Yorkshire) at the bar and as soon as they heard my American accent they all started in on me. Asking me, as if I was a dumb American (aren't we all?)  "So, where in Canada is NYC exactly?" and "I would rather fucking DIE than go to America. They're all cunts!". Yeah yeah yeah, we fucking suck, now get over it.

I am a walking whipping post here. 99.9% of the people here HATE AMERICANS and when they meet one (me for example) they spit their verbal venom at me (I try to imagine this is aimed at George Bush and let it go in one ear and out the other) but after 18 years of this shit, I am ready to fucking snap. I am not a Patriotic Yank. I don't wear the American flag on my body or brag about being from the USA, but when people ask me where I am from, am I supposed to fucking lie? I should maybe tell them I am from Canada so they get off my ass. AND if they happen to be apathetic about where I am from, they have a go at me when I answer their next question (it's like a fucking interview every time I leave the house)  "so what do you do for a living?" MASSAGE (insert lame joke here) "oh, with happy endings?". Just fucking bite me. From now on, I'm from Toronto and I am a  waitress. End of story. Hostile? Yeah, I am, but you would be too if you got as much shit throw your way as I do being an (GOD FORBID) American.  Thanks Mr. Bush, everyone hates us now, hope you're happy. I didn't vote for the cunt, nor did anyone I know.

Something about being a foreigner, hard to put my finger on it, lets see, it SUCKS. You have to walk on eggshells. Your accent gives you away. So just keep your mouth shut and you'll be fine. But what about in shops? Restaurants? Bars? You have to speak. I feel SO confident in NYC. Like a fish in water. The ambition, the energy, the anything-goes vibe is a constant turn on. Plus, I am from there (well, born 2 hours drive North) so NO ONE gives me shit about being American on my own turf. HUGE chip on my shoulder right now. One more person gives me hell about being a Yank, I'm gonna snap. Go postal. Can you or anyone you know relate? The song CREEP from Radio Head comes to mind.

That and the miserable weather (FREEZING, rain, gray skies) and the fact that Jasmine left on a tour all around Europe again for the next 5 months or so, makes me want to get on the next plane back to NYC. Having lived in Europe since 1989 though, makes me also feel a tad out of place there too (I've turned into a bread snob). Going mad. Turning into an eccentric freak. The more success you have in your career the less you fit in. Losers at bars who have no or little money seem to have a million friends and lots of time to spend with them. If you work and love your work and speak about it (when asked) you get glared at as if you just told them you shit tooth paste. "EH? You like to work? I avoid those kind, as it may be contagious!".

Friends my age are all married and/or are just having kids and have NO time. Single friends are either super rich and have no time or super poor and have NO money but lots of time. Good thing I don't mind being alone. Lately I have been really busy- had a tiny operation, no big deal.. and then helping Jasmine get ready for her trip and showing a lovely friend-

– around Berlin has all taken up so much of my time I haven't even began to answer all of the piled up emails. Another thing, if you are straight (not fucked up) in Berlin and are a foreigner, it's hard to deal with. I go into the Irish pubs of Berlin from time to time for some karaoke and see the English speaking crowds, some of which have been here as long, if not longer than myself and most of they are high and/or drunk as fuck every time I see them. Some of them have actually gone crazy. I know a couple Americans here that have turned into massive alcoholics and put heads; you can barely understand them anymore. You ask them "why?". They say it's cold here, the people are cold here. You wonder "why not go back to your country?" but many have been here so long, they would have to start all over again back "home".

Really odd situation. Not looking to start a pity party, just telling the truth. One American man here wrote a book called the  Zoo station  years ago. Directly after it's release, he killed himself. The Spring and Summer are better; people smile. Winter is hell on earth here. They will simply NOT obey the smoking ban yet. Most places are still extremely smoky and the one's that do enforce the smoking ban, allow smoking after 11pm anyways. So I stay at home most of the time organizing massages for touring rock bands. Super fucking exciting. Party On Garth.

On a lighter note, I am off to France early April to perform a Hot Chocolate massage on a certain someone (can't reveal their name yet). Then I will take a train over to Italy and meet Jasmine for a week of fun in the sun. Then later in April, back to NYC. I do LOVE my flat in Berlin, as it's all mine and I can do whatever the fuck I want in it whenever the fuck I want….but big deal, the folks here in Europe have already made up their minds to hate Americans, so why stay here?  So much hate here, it's insane. Lighten up people will ya?

"I care not what others think of what I do, but I care very much about what I think of what I do! That is character!" – Theodore Roosevelt

Zappa Plays Zappa tour dates ^

Yes I support Zappa tribute bands and Zappa alumni and the Zappanale, but just to show Gail and Dweezil that I am mutual, here are their dates. All things involving Zappa music are good things.

Amazing Massage in Melbourne

I hope I look fit like Madonna ^ when I am 50. Holy crap!

Lenny Kravitz is in town (Berlin) hope he wants a massage tomorrow before or after his show. LOVE his drummer Cindy, she is my favorite part of the band (hey, love the band, but Cindy fucking RAWKS!). I heard Lenny quit smoking; good thing as FINALLY the smoking ban has swept over Berlin. YAY!!!

Just as I was about to move to NYC permanently, they enforce a smoking ban…hmmmm, makes Berlin hard to leave. That, and the grumpy look on the Berliner's faces was what made me hate it here, but if I can go out and return home without blood red eyes, hair, clothes, purse and shoes FUMING of cigarette smoke, it's actually great here. The grumpy attitude; well that takes getting used to. When the sun shines, folks do smile..too bad it rarely shines here lol.

Spending WAY too much online lately, but obviously not blogging properly..instead, I am organizing massages for several rock bands that are currently touring. This takes A LOT of coordinating; never knew I would get into logistics like my ol' buddy Alan Dunn of the Stones. Gotta be on the ball for such things. "Hi, my name is Dot. I am a work-o-holic" Funny, it doesn't seem like work, I love it. yay!

Looky here ^ That's Emma. She is now a Dr. Dot assistant in Melbourne, Australia. So now I have Denise and Emma sorting out my clients down under. I be pimpin'  Wink

Read what Emma has to say about herself and if you are down under or heading there and want a seriously KICK ASS massage, email me.

"Hi, I’m Emma and I am based in Melbourne, Australia having recently immigrated from the UK. My passions in life are people, travel, music and massage. I have been massaging my way around the world for many years now and I love what I do. When I heard about Dr Dot, I was very keen to be part of her growing team. I have been brought up around music from a young age. My mum is a massive Rolling Stones and Zeppelin fan so this was a great musical education to grow up with. My sister and I have been regulars at gigs and festivals from our teens.  After a successful audition with Roddy in London – he described my massage as ‘world class’ – I was honoured to be asked to be part of the Dr Dot team.

I have ITEC diplomas in Holistic Massage, Indian Head Massage and Pregnancy Massage and went onto learn Soft Tissue Release (STR) and Deep Tissue Massage with the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM).
Experience and specialist training has taught me what clients expect from a massage treatment, and consequently what clients need and deserve. I feel confident that I offer the highest standard of massage due to the professional manner in which treatments are delivered, in terms of skill, knowledge and understanding. My massage style combines fluid and soothing techniques using great strength resulting in an extremely pleasurable experience. You'll feel a deep sense of relaxation whilst I effectively treat your aches and pains simultaneously. My clients frequently tell me that it is the best massage they have ever experienced.

I have massaged my way all over the world, including working winter seasons in both the French Alps and UTAH in the USA. Massaging in ski resorts is a great way to gain varied experience and work with injuries commonly associated with winter sports. I have also worked in the Greek Islands during the summer months as a massage therapist at a watersports and sailing club.

I am looking forward to working with Dr Dot’s clients as part of her team in Australia."
