Hi Folks, I am Kat.
Massage in Ann Arbor, Michigan
My name is Elise Hillary, named after Elise McKenna from the movie 'Somewhere In Time', which was filmed on Mackinac Island in Michigan during and where my parents Honeymooned. Hillary is taken after Sir Edmund Hillary, as my dad has a passion for Mountaineering, as well as I. My wilderness experience consisted of a 6 week backpacking trip into the Wind River range in the Wyoming wilderness, which included climbing and glacading down a snow covered mountain!
Raised for my first year of life in New Zealand; I believe that's how the adventurous spirit in me came to be! I was immensely impacted by a 9 month sailing trip from Michigan to the Bahamas with my family in 1998-99, and enjoyed my moment of “fame” on northern Michigan's 9&10 news when my sister and I had decided to throw a message in a bottle into the gulf stream and it was found 18 months later in France!
In September 2006 I started Massage therapy training at the Institute of Natural Therapies, after graduation I went on to study Thai Massage in Thailand. I believe Massage Therapy connects me to what I am most passionate about. People, nature and art. I love movement and dance too, I am a hand talker and am always moving, especially if you get me painting on a huge roll of canvas! Massage has been a great instrument for my hands, to bring out that dynamic, healing flow from within!
Hippies are the Jesus movement; the creation seekers, after the creator! I get energized and inspired from the arts, creation and people. I believe these are gifts after the creators heart! I find that massage is so in corporative of all these elements, that it is the best vessel I can use to express my heart felt healing and agape I have for people! Touch is the vessel through which Jesus healed the sick, I think that's an amazing concept as I am learning through the people that I have worked on that I have healing hands.
This is such an honor to be able to take my journey into the Dr Dot team and to be able to work for Dr Dot as a Massage Therapist! You can book me by emailing me at info@drdot.com and put “Elise/michigan”in the subject line.
Massage in Montreal, Canada
Hi everybody, I’m Amber, a certified Massotherapeute here in Montreal.
I grew up in Nova Scotia, living there until 2001 when I left my ocean home to come study Massage Therapy and practice Aikido – a martial art which demands an awareness of joint limitations, pain thresholds, and acheives gracefulness through efficiency of movement. A truly beautiful artform which constantly deepens my understanding of the body.
My massage studies include Swedish/Sports massage, Thai Yoga Massage (assisted stretching), Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy – the perfect mixture of techniques for Deep Tissue and therapeutic work! I massage with or without oil, using a massage table or chair, or simply a floor futon. I’ve worked in conjunction with acupuncturists and osteopaths, at Sporting events, Martial arts seminars, Massage and Rehabilitation centers, spas, offices, concerts, you name it!
Martial and Healing Arts are strikingly different yet complementary ways of discovering the body, and have resulted in my unconventional massage style –confident, dynamic, and precise. I’m happy to be part of Dr. Dot’s Massage team, working with the most competant therapists, and some of the most talented musicians in the world! Give me a shout if you’re in Montreal: Email me at info@drdot.com and put "AMBER/MONTREAL" in subject line and I will get back to you right away.
Massage in Raleigh, North Carolina
Meet Rae, the newest member to the Dr. Dot massage team down South:
"Having a chance to blend 2 of my biggest passions is a dream come true, and I am ecstatic to be on Dr. Dot’s team!!
I was raised by hippie parents on all the right music—Beatles, Zeppelin, Moody Blues, etc. Today you can find everything from Aimee Mann to James Brown to U2 in my collection. I am a music fiend! Much of my youth was spent watching MTV (when they still played music), and I mastered every Janet Jackson routine and Motley Crue drumbeat there was. I decided early on that I was going to either be a rock star, or marry one.
The night I met my husband, he was playing guitar onstage. Trying to impress him, I offered to massage his hands, even though I had no training. I guess I did well, since we’re still together! Soon after we met, I chose to leave social work behind for massage school. My first day, a fellow student let me practice on her. She told me it felt like I’d already been doing massage for years, and I knew then I had found my calling. I spent the next 18 months learning massage, yoga, reiki, and anything else I could get my hands on.
Looking back, it now seems obvious I was meant to do healing work. Growing up in an affectionate family taught me power of touch, and it seems from an early age I had a natural gift of intuition. Using massage and energy work enabled me to heal my body and mind when I developed problems that doctors and medications couldn’t fix. Now I live a full life without any meds, not even a multivitamin! It is so important to me to continue sharing this gift with others, to help them take charge of their health.
My approach is intuitively and holistically based, treating your whole being. I consider myself a channel, working where my hands are guided. Each session is tailored to your specific needs, and I can provide anything from a soothing Swedish to an intense Trigger Point session. If you need healing and I’m not available in person, I can send you Reiki as well.
Chances are, I’ll be at your show anyway, so it would be an honor to have you book me: info@drdot.com (put "for CHANDRA/NC" in subject line).
Thanks, Rae"
