Hello, my name is Sheila and I became interested in becoming a massage therapist after receiving massage to relieve my own chronic low back pain. I was able to see first hand how beneficial bodywork can be and wanted to help others along their path of healing. After attending the Oregon School of Massage and becoming licensed in 1995, I went on to work in a variety of settings such as Chiropractic offices, retreat centers and running my own private practice.

My quest for more knowledge and expertise has led me into many continuing education workshops such as Onsen, pregnancy massage and doula certification, traditional floor and table Thai, and Watsu, totaling over 1000 hours of education. I am also currently pursuing a nursing degree. My specialty is treatment massages including Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy and Therapeutic Stretching. Each session is tailored to meet your specific bodywork needs.

My knowledge and work has been further deepened by becoming an instructor of massage starting in 2001. I have taught all levels of massage training and at several schools in the Portland area. I find deep meaning and connection from both teaching and performing massage treatments. I'm excited to be part of the Dr. Dot massage team and I look forward to meeting and working on you when you get to Portland.

My passion as a massage therapist is to help people in their pursuit to feel their best. I specialize in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Sports Massage, CranioSacral and Myo-fascial therapies. I have a strong intuitive sense that is helpful in moving energy and addressing muscular issues. I also have confidence in my abilities to assist people in their healing process. Breath work is vital to a healthy, active and balanced body, and it is a key component of my practice. Massage and breath work are very important in the release of toxins and in bringing awareness to the body.

With a skilled therapeutic touch and a focused intention, I put others at ease while addressing their needs. I have an honest nature. I am a good communicator, and I consider myself a hard worker. My pursuit into massage therapy is continually reaffirmed by the impact it has on my clients, and I am eager to serve others in their journey towards optimal health.

Upon my quest for the right career choice, I reflected on my own experiences in receiving massages, acupuncture, and CranioSacral and naturopathic care. These therapies have been an important part of my self-care for over 15 years, and they have therefore lead me passionately into this field. My personal experiences have enabled me to continue to strive, and educate myself to be the best massage therapist possible. My clients know my commitment and it resonates. The impact that bodywork has had on my clients and my family is tremendous. The knowledge and awareness other health care professionals have provided for me in my lifetime is profound, and I am hopeful to give back as much as I have received through the years.

I was born and raised in Southern California, and I am the youngest of nine children. My personal interests include cooking from a variety of magazines and cookbooks, all forms of music and self expression, as well as health, exercise and nutrition. I am also a lover of the outdoors and enjoy exploring the many splendors that Oregon has to offer.

I am excited to have a career in something that I feel so well suited for and passionate about. I am equally excited to have joined the Dr. Dot team and look forward to working with you!

Making you feel better makes me feel great!

I am embarking on my seventh year as a massage therapist, and I love what I do. I feel privileged to be able to assist all kinds of people in their healing and well being.

I studied massage in Portland Oregon at East West College of the Healing Arts, and was licensed in December of 2004. Since then I have explored many styles of massage and discovered exciting occupational opportunities.

I've worked for Acupuncturists and Chiropractors. I spent a couple years working in Day Spas, and even moved to the roadless areas of the Costa Rican Rain Forest to do massage and teach Yoga at eco-resorts. Summertime usually finds me massaging the masses and performers at music festivals, concerts, and other events. It has been an exciting journey so far!

The product of all these experiences is a style of massage that I can call my own. I like to work deep while including Thai style stretching and specific Trigger Point Therapy with joint movement. All bodies are similar, but every body is different. My goal with each session is to tune in to what my client needs at that moment and assist a positive change in their body that they can really feel.

I currently reside in Portland, and am thrilled to be a part of the Dr. Dot Team! I look forward to working with you!

I am a therapist and healer dedicated to being a life-long learner in order to build my skills in order to best serve my family, clients, and community. I have been a licensed practicing massage therapist for over 14 years starting my career in Houston, TX though I gave my first foot massage when I was around 3 years old.

During my first years of massage I also gained placement in a competitive program for physical therapy assistant in order to expand my core knowledge of kinesiology, anatomy and physiology needed to be an adept deep tissue rehabilitation focused therapist. Around this time I also started my commitment to volunteering giving time regularly to non-profits providing advocacy and support for women and children. While in Texas I mostly worked in large health clubs with a focus on deep tissue, trigger point, myo-fascial release, and professional athletes.

Throughout this experience my thirst for knowledge led me to finish my undergraduate degree in public health education which led me to Oregon. Once I moved to Oregon I began cultivating more Eastern/ Energy techniques gaining my level 1 Reiki, studying Zen Shiatsu, Acupressure, and Qigong.

This addition greatly expanded my ability to promote positive outcomes in my clients and helped fully round out my current style of practice. While completing my degree at Portland State University I started my work in the Spa world. This experience really helped me hone all types of sensory modalities and environmental changes that best promote not only the best massage experience possible but that carry on your results for hours if not days longer.

This is also where I learned to use hot stones for massage as well as learning the art and science of making my own body scrubs, masks, lotions, and therapeutic salts. All of our senses must be nurtured in order to promote maximum relaxation and renewal.

I am currently completing my graduate degree in occupational therapy which allows me a greater perspective on healthy habits and routines to best facilitate healthy long term outcomes. Over the last 14 years my sense of humor, strong work ethic and dedication to best serving my diverse clientele has helped me to build a successful sustainable practice.

I have also taken classes and built skills in pre-natal massage, massage for labor and delivery, aromatherapy, as well as reflexology. I enjoy bringing relaxation and balance to my client’s lives while helping them build sustainable holistic health practices.

Throughout my career I have maintained the highest level of discretion and confidentiality providing not only great massages but also peace of mind. I look forward to sharing my special style of massage with you in the future.
